Vol. 543 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospitals Refurbishment.

John McGuinness

Question:

115 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the progress in relation to the funding of the refurbishment of a ward at Kilcreene Hospital, Kilkenny; if funding will be made available by his Department; if the South-Eastern Health Board will fund the project directly; and if the funds come from within the South Eastern Health Board, the way in which other projects will be affected. [27086/01]

The South Eastern Health Board has submitted a proposal to my Department for the refurbishment of a ward in Kilcreene Hospital. The board's proposal is being considered by my Department in the context of the overall bed capacity requirements of the South Eastern Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer at the board to reply directly to the Deputy in relation to any proposal he may have to fund this project from the board's own resources.
