I am not aware of any initiative at EU level regarding the setting up of a European wide standard of care for acute hospitals.
With regard to the referral of patients abroad, it is a matter for the relevant health board/ERHA to examine the circumstances of each case and to ensure that the treatment is carried out in a recognised hospital or institution with appropriate standards of care.
