Vol. 543 No. 5

Written Answers. - Driving Licences.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

153 Mr. Howlin asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the status or value of an international driving licence here in terms of the entitlements it confers; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [27616/01]

Anyone in possession of an Irish driving licence, whether full or provisional, who is experiencing difficulty in getting insurance here is entitled to seek a quote through the declined cases agreement. I understand that the Minister for the Environment and Local Government has published regulations regarding the equivalence of driving licences issued by other national authorities to Irish driving licences.
