Vol. 544 No. 1

Written Answers. - Advertising Expenditure.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

132 Mr. McGinley asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the total expenditure for her Department for television advertising to date in 2001; and the percentage of expenditure allocated to Irish established broadcasters regulated here compared to that allocated to non-Irish established broadcasters. [28178/01]

The total expenditure for television advertising in my Department this year to date is £46,224. This spend represented a once-off campaign to publicise the increase in the national minimum wage. The entire amount was allocated to Irish established broadcasters. The retention of advertising services by the agencies under the aegis of my Department is a day-to-day matter for the agencies themselves.
