160 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will be renewing the 30 day retention period introduced for animals purchased by persons engaged in dealing with livestock under the Diseases of Animals (Amendment) Act, 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The 30 day retention period was reviewed during October and a decision was taken to extend the measure until 31 December 2001. The measure will be reviewed before that date.
