Vol. 544 No. 1

Written Answers. - Live Exports.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

163 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan will receive a slaughter premium payment for animals exported to Northern Ireland and slaughtered between April and September 2000; if the delay is a direct effort to curtail live exports; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28208/01]

Slaughter premium 2000 will be paid to the person named at the end of November 2001.

The slaughter premium scheme came into operation in 2000 and that was the first year in which payments under a direct payment scheme were made on the basis of information recorded on the cattle movement monitoring system – CMMS. The delay in this particular case arose from a delay in receiving full CMMS confirmation of the export of the animals.
