Vol. 544 No. 3

Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Ulick Burke

Question:

225 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the members of the REP scheme appeals board; and their positions within his Department. [28553/01]

The REPS appeals committee is made up of three officials drawn from my Department. The chairman is a senior inspector who in his other duties is not involved in the operation of REPS. The other members are the assistant principal officer in charge of REPS operations and a regional inspector whose other duties relate to the early retirement and on-farm investment schemes. The latter official was formerly assigned to REPS and he absents himself when the committee is considering cases in which he may have had an involvement.
