Vol. 544 No. 3

Written Answers. - Disadvantaged Areas Scheme.

Austin Deasy

Question:

231 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he sought a full review of the scheme of disadvantaged areas from the European Union; if not, if he will be seeking such a review; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28575/01]

It is assumed that the Deputy is referring to a review of disadvantaged areas in Ireland. I have no plans to carry out such a review.

As indicated in my reply to the Deputy on 6 November to Parliamentary Question No. 303, proposals have been submitted to the European Commission for increased payment rates for farmers with mountain-type land.
