Vol. 544 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Creed

Question:

242 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive a suckler cow payment. [28868/01]

The person named applied on 37 cows and three heifers under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. Following an examination of his application it was found that animal tag number DCL682556 died on the farm on 23 August 2001 and animal tag number DWK149211 was moved off the farm to a factory on 4 October 2001. Under the terms and conditions of the scheme an animal must be replaced within 20 days of the date of loss/sale and the district livestock office notified in writing of replacement details within ten working days of the date of replacement. For an animal to be considered as natural circumstances, for example, death of an animal, the producer must notify the district livestock office in writing of each such event within ten working days of that event.

The district livestock office of my Department received notification and replacement details for animal tag number DWK149211, but did not receive notification regarding animal tag number DCL682556. Accordingly this animal will be rejected from the application with a consequent reduction penalty of 2.56% on the remaining animals. Correspondence dated 19 November 2001 has issued to the person named informing him of the outcome.

Phil Hogan

Question:

243 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when various premia payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28869/01]

The area aid application of the person named has been processed without errors. Payment due under the 2001 area-based compensatory allowance scheme will issue before the end of November. Payments due under the 2001 suckler cow and special beef premia schemes will also issue shortly.
