Minister for Finance (Mr. McCreevy): I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that statistics are not available at this time which would enable the information requested by the Deputy to be provided. The rent a room scheme was only introduced from 6 April 2001 and individuals claiming the exemption will be requested to indicate if the exemption is being claimed on their end year annual return of income form. However, even with this information, it will be some time before comprehensive statistics are available.
