Vol. 544 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Development Boards.

Jan O'Sullivan

Question:

373 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the running cost for each of the city and county development boards for the year 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28974/01]

The information sought is not available in my Department. The resourcing of the county/city development boards, CDBs, is primarily the responsibility of the county/city local authorities in the light of their role as lead agencies for the CDB process. Within this framework, the funding of the CDBs is determined by local authorities in the context of their annual estimates. It is also open to other public agencies represented on the CDBs to make a contribution to the resourcing of the CDBs and, where appropriate, such agencies are encouraged to do so.

In addition, in 2001, I provided a total of £1 million, 1.27 million, in funding through my Department's Vote to resource the community and voluntary fora, which have been established in each county and city as part of the CDB process.
