Vol. 544 No. 3

Written Answers. - Interdepartmental Report.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

393 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 464 of 20 March 2001, he has received the interdepartmental working group's report; if he will publish that report; and the action he will take on foot of this review. [28919/01]

The parliamentary question to which the Deputy refers relates to a review of school meals provision that is currently under way in my Department. The interdepartmental working group reviewing the school meals scheme has not yet finalised its work. However, I understand that progress has been made since last March. The group's most recent meeting took place on 8 November and a first draft of the group's report is currently being prepared. The report will be published after it has been presented to me, following which I expect to be in a position to bring proposals for a reformed school meals scheme to Government.
