Vol. 544 No. 3

Written Answers. - Sports Capital Programme.

Seamus Healy

Question:

444 Mr. Healy asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation when he will make a sports grant available to St. Mary's Hurling Club and Commercial Football Club, Clonmel, County Tipperary for the provision of dressing room facilities. [28743/01]

Under the national lottery funded sports capital programme, administered by my Department, grants are allocated to organisations for the development of sports and recreational facilities.

All applications received under the programme are treated on their merits and assessed in accordance with detailed criteria outlined in the guidelines, terms and conditions governing the programme. Projects must be directly related to the provision of sport and recreation facilities and be of a capital nature.

My Department has not to date received an application for funding under the programme from St. Mary's Hurling and Commercial Football Club.

The 2002 sports capital programme will be announced within the next few weeks and it will be open to the club in question to apply for funding under the programme.
