465 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Education and Science the allocation made to each county or vocational education committee from the adult literacy and community education budget; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28737/01]
The total allocation to date in 2001 to the vocational education committees from the budget for adult literacy, community education and the special initiatives for disadvantaged adults scheme, SPIDAS, is £12,636,227, 16,044,697.60. Details of the allocation to each VEC are set out below. The overall budget for 2001 is £15.666 million, 19.892 million. The remaining elements are issued to such bodies as the National Adult Literacy Agency, adult guidance projects, funds for TV and radio literacy, a range of miscellaneous adult education projects, and a contingency fund.
