Vol. 544 No. 3

Written Answers. - Public Safety Authority.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

129 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the progress which has been made in considering the need for a new authority with overall responsibility for public safety; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [28647/01]

I published last December the report of the Interdepartmental-Agency Review Group on Public Safety. I am still considering the implications of the group's report, including the recommendation to establish an office of public safety regulation, which requires consultation with Government colleagues.
