147 Ms Shortall asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she will refer the proposed takeover of a company (details supplied) to the Competition Authority; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [28659/01]
I was notified of the proposed takeover under the Mergers and Take-over (Control) Acts, 1978-96. In accordance with the provisions of the Acts the proposal is currently being examined by my Department. Once this examination is complete, I will then decide whether to clear the proposal or refer it to the Competition Authority for further investigation.
