Vol. 545 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Rebates.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

171 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Finance when a tax rebate payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Laois; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29561/01]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes has carried out a review of the taxpayer's liability for the 2000-01 tax year. The review has established that the taxpayer overpaid £365.29 – 463.82 – in tax and a cheque for that amount issued on 23 November 2001. The taxpayer is also due a refund of tax she overpaid in the current tax year. The inspector of taxes has contacted the taxpayer's current employer and has given the employer up to date information about the taxpayer's tax credits. The implementation of the revised tax credits will result in the taxpayer receiving a refund of £736.58 – 935.26 – in her next pay cheque which I am advised is due on 29 November 2001.
