Vol. 545 No. 1

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputies Sargent and Ryan. I propose to call the Deputies in the order in which they submitted notices to my office.

I request, under Standing Order 31, that Dáil Éireann be suspended to allow the Government to put in place the necessary measures and reassurances for Aer Lingus workers considering voluntary redundancies in relation to adequate lump sum remuneration and index-linked pensions, proper career-break options with guaranteed future return-to-work arrangements and the option of a shorter working week with social welfare for the days not worked, as is an option for KLM workers at present.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be contemplated by Standing Order 31. Therefore the matter cannot be dealt with.
