Vol. 545 No. 1

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Dan Neville

Question:

247 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when a water scheme (details supplied) in County Limerick will be upgraded. [29547/01]

The Patrickswell and Croom water supply scheme, which is an element of phase two of the Limerick environs and Shannon Estuary water supply scheme, was thirteenth on the list of water and sewerage schemes submitted by Limerick County Council in response to my Department's request to local authorities to undertake fresh assessments of the needs for capital works in their areas and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments. The priority lists were taken into account in the framing of the Water Services Investment Programme, 2000-2002, announced in July 2000. Given the priority rating afforded to the scheme by the council, the level of competing demand and the funding available, it has not been possible to include it in the programme.
