Vol. 545 No. 2

Written Answers. - Psychological Service.

Question:

160 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 179 of 22 November 2001, he will ensure the needs of a person (details supplied) are met. [30219/01]

As mentioned in my previous reply, the NEPS regional director responsible for the area has already entered into discussions with the school authorities about their need for a psychological service. As a short-term measure, psychologists in the region have agreed to deal with urgent assessment work in the school. In this context, the needs of the child named by the Deputy will be discussed with the school principal and with the relevant clinical agencies to ensure that any necessary action will be taken.
