Question:

47 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Finance the revenue generated from Vehicle Registration Tax; the situation regarding the car sales market for September, October and November 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29861/01]

The net Vehicle Registration Tax receipts to end October, 2001 is £598.7 million, 760.19 million. The net registration figures for new and used cars for the months of September, October and November are as follows:

Obviously, the figures for the month of November 2001 are not finalised. However, from 1 November 2001 to the 21 November 2001, the figure for net registrations of new cars is 1,786 and the figure for net registrations of used cars is 516. The value attributed to these figures is in the region of £8 million, 10.16 million.
