Vol. 545 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

103 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will review the refusal in respect of cow and heifer premiums to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30383/01]

The person named applied on 90 animals under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. When his application was being processed for payment a number of errors were identified and my Department notified the applicant accordingly. One error now remains outstanding concerning an animal which the person named had incorrectly registered as a male animal on the national calf birth registration database. He has been advised by my Department to have the registration details amended to reflect the female status of the animal. In the meantime, his application will be processed for payment on the basis of 89 animals. Payment of the 80% advance will issue to him within the next 14 days. At balance payment stage his entitlement to payment will be calculated on the basis of 90 animals, provided the incorrect registration matter has been satisfactorily resolved.
