Vol. 545 No. 3

Written Answers. - Agriculture Appeals Office.

John Moloney

Question:

53 Mr. Moloney asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the position regarding the establishment of an independent appeals office; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30048/01]

The legislation governing the establishment of the new independent Agriculture Appeals Office was enacted in July. The office will be based in Portlaoise.

The interdepartmental competition to recruit a director and deputy director is now being arranged by the Civil Service and Local Appointments Commissioners. The recruitment of the remaining staff from within the Civil Service will be commenced as soon as possible thereafter. The office will be operational as soon as practicably possible.
