Vol. 545 No. 3

Written Answers. - Ireland Aid Review.

Richard Bruton

Question:

65 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the progress to date in the Review of Ireland Aid; when the report of the review committee will be published; if he will make arrangements to publish the various submissions to the committee; and the form of debate on the findings of the committee which is planned. [30312/01]

The Ireland Aid Review Committee is in the final stages of its work including the preparation of its report and recommendations. The committee last met on 15 November and is due to meet again on 4 December. The review process is likely to be completed within a matter of weeks. The handling of the large number of submissions made to the committee is one of a number of issues receiving consideration at present.

I expect that, when the report is published, it will be debated fully in the Oireachtas and will also be the subject of scrutiny and debate in other fora.
