Question:

180 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development further to Parliamentary Question No. 156 of 27 November 2001, the persons who received ex gratia funding in 1998, 1999 and 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30672/01]

I assume that the Deputy is asking for the names of the organisations and the amount each received, in respect of the total amount of ex gratia payments made to bodies involved in the delivery of animal care and welfare services throughout the country.

In 1998ex gratia payments were made to ten organisations involved in the delivery of animal care and welfare services throughout the country. These payments totalled £210,000. The organisations concerned had approached the Department during the year in question seeking financial assistance. Details of the grants paid in 1998 are as follows:
