Vol. 546 No. 1

Written Answers. - Fish Quotas.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

72 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the salmon quotas operating in the area of each of the regional fisheries boards; when and the way in which these quotas were arrived at; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31264/01]

There are no quotas currently in operation for the taking of salmon by commercial fishing engines. Commercial salmon fishing is currently subject to a comprehensive regime of conservation measures relating to the length of the fishing season, the number of fishing days and the number of hours per day allowed and fishing gear restrictions.
