Vol. 546 No. 5

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

199 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the money set aside for the installation of central heating to local authorities tenants' homes in 2002; the amount which will be allocated to Dublin Corporation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [32427/01]

Funding for the installation of central heating in local authority houses may be provided under the remedial works scheme in respect of dwellings which qualify under that scheme or from local authority internal capital receipts which are surplus to the requirements of the local authority housing programme. Apart from the foregoing, there is no specific funding mechanism available from my Department for the installation of central heating in local authority rented dwellings.
