Written Answers. - Sports Funding.

Derek McDowell

Question:

259 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the projects in the national development plan for which funding has been provided as part of the 2002 Abridged Estimates or announced in the Budget Statement; the level of funding provided; the nature of the works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [32370/01]

A total of 104.802 million has been provided as part of the 2002 Abridged Estimates in respect of the various programmes under the national development plan for which my Department has responsibility, the bulk of which is current expenditure funding. However, also included is a capital provision of 1.27 million towards the tourism product investment scheme under the plan. This scheme, which has only recently been approved by the EU Commission, is due to be launched in early 2002 with details of application and selection process etc.

No funding was announced in the budget statement for my Department for projects under the national development plan.
