145 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the residents disapprove of the grant aid for afforestation of lands (details supplied); if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that the owners of adjoining lands regard plantations as vermin paddocks; and if he will make a statement on the matter. An application for grant aid was approved by the forest service in March 2001. The application was processed in the normal way and approval issued in accordance with relevant environmental guidelines. The views of local residents were taken into consideration before approval issued.
