Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Company Closure.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

255 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if the Government will provide compensation for the losses incurred by persons as a result of the closure of a company (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2652/02]

The company to which the Deputy refers went into receivership on 9 October 2001 and it would not be appropriate for the Government to intervene in what is a commercial matter. The issue of compensation for losses incurred is a matter to be resolved between the creditors and the receiver. I urge any persons owed moneys by this company to contact the receiver without delay.
