Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Collection.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

414 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Finance if the Revenue Commissioners will meet with a person (details supplied) in County Waterford or the person's spouse, or legal representative, regarding the person's tax liability; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1800/02]

I am advised by the Revenue Commissioners that there is a substantial unpaid debt at issue in this case over a long period of time. There has been significant and ongoing contact between the legal representative of the person concerned and Revenue over the last two years to progress matters towards satisfaction of the debt. I am advised that Revenue has in fact agreed in the course of those contacts to a meeting to discuss a particular aspect of the debt settlement arrangements once certain agreed steps in that settlement process are completed. On the basis of progress made to date, Revenue expects that this meeting can take place shortly.
