Question:

624 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the surgical procedures at Mayo General Hospital which have been cut back; and the reasons therefor. [2126/02]

The provision of services at Mayo General Hospital is the responsibility of the Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this matter and reply to the Deputy directly.

625 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children if prostate operations are taking place in Mayo General Hospital; if not, when these procedures in Castlebar ceased; the reason therefor, particularly in view of the funding spent in upgrading this hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2127/02]
