88 Mr. Flanagan asked the Taoiseach the number of people on the live register in County Laois as of 1 January in each of the offices at Portlaoise, Portarlington and Rathdowney; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2811/02]

The most recent information available on the number of persons on the live register is for the week ended 21 December 2001, the third week of December. For administrative reasons, due to the introduction of the euro over the holiday period, no figure is available for the last Friday of the month which is the usual reference date for the series. The information requested by the Deputy is as follows:
