735 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if the £5 million provided for the establishment of a national environmental research centre is to be administered by the Environmental Protection Agency or by a 'stand alone' research agency. [1424/02]
The National Development Plan 2000-2006, and the associated Productive Sector Operational Programme, provide for the establishment of a national environmental research centre of excellence. The proposed centre will be located within the Environmental Protection Agency. Proposals which have been prepared by the agency for the development of the centre are being considered by my Department, in conjunction with the Department of Finance.
