Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Crime Statistics.

Alan Shatter

Question:

934 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of persons who died in violent circumstances in 2001. [1431/02]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the provisional figures for the number of violent crimes ending in death – murder and manslaughter – recorded in 2001 is 59. I should stress, however, that these figures are provisional and subject to change.
