Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

1032 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his Department has made a decision regarding a number of visa applications (details supplied); if so, the date on which the decision was made; the reasons given for the decision; the date when the original applications were first lodged; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2733/02]

The visa applications in question were received in the Irish Embassy in Beijing on 7 September 2001 and refused on 12 October 2001. The reason for refusal was that the officer examining the applications was not satisfied that the applicants would satisfy the normal visa conditions and in particular that the actual purpose of visit was as stated on the applications.

My Department has received representations regarding these and other similar applications from the company in question and has requested certain documentation from the company. Upon receipt of this documentation further consideration will be given to the matter.
