Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

1215 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Education and Science when a school (details supplied) in Dublin 4 will be given final approval to proceed with the demolition and replacement of prefabricated buildings; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1734/02]

My Department has approved in principle the provision of new prefabricated accommodation at the school referred to by the Deputy.

I understand that the position is that in June 2001, the building unit authorised the school authorities to arrange for the preparation of tender documents for the necessary accommodation.

The tender documents were received in December 2001 but some clarification was sought from the school authorities before the invitation of tenders could be considered. This information has only recently been received and is currently being examined. Subject to the information being satisfactory, the question of allowing tenders to be invited will be considered and a decision conveyed to the school authorities.
