Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

1224 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to a letter sent to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12, he will review the case and indicate if the person concerned should have been entitled to the payment. [1745/02]

VTOS participants who have been in receipt of an eligible social welfare payment, i.e. unemployment assistance/benefit, disability assistance/benefit, or a one-parent family payment, for at least 12 months prior to starting VTOS are entitled to a £25 weekly training bonus. The person referred to by the Deputy was in receipt of a carer's allowance prior to joining VTOS and, therefore, is not entitled to this training bonus.

The VEC is in contact with the student concerned regarding entitlements she may have to childcare support under VTOS.
