Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

1361 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding the provision of the extra facilities at Scoil Dara, Kilcock, County Kildare; the precise timescale for the commencement of site works on the project; the extent of the facilities proposed; when these will be ready for occupation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2584/02]

The stage 6 (tender action and report) in respect of the proposed extra facilities at Scoil Dara, Kilcock, County Kildare has been examined within my Department. My Department's post-primary building unit has indicated to the school authorities that consideration is being given to formally approving the tender recommended for acceptance by their design team. This approval, however, is subject to confirmation that the contractor can meet the standard contractual requirements, including for example evidence of tax clearance and membership of CIF. Confirmation of these items is awaited before the formal approval to the placing of the contract can be considered. The facilities proposed will include eight general classrooms, seven specialist classrooms and administration office, toilets, cloaks and locker areas and stores.
