Vol. 547 No. 4

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Billy Timmins

Question:

109 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if her Department operates term time; the number of persons who applied for this in 2000, 2001 and 2002; the number of persons who were accepted and availed themselves of the scheme; if persons were refused; if so, the reason therefor; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3889/02]

This Department operates the term time scheme. In 2000, there were five applications and five were approved. In 2001, there were seven applicants and six approved. In 2002, there have been six applicants and six have been approved. One person was refused term time leave in 2001 because he had a very specific job and would have been impossible to replace for the timeframe involved.
