Vol. 548 No. 2

Written Answers. - Compensation Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

341 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the reason incorrect information was given in a previous parliamentary question regarding a person (details supplied) in County Mayo; and when this person will receive a cull ewe payment for 2001. [4181/02]

At the time that my Department paid out compensation for losses arising from destocking in 2001, the information that the person named had not applied for ewe premium was correct. After investigation, it appears that the person's application to the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development was not received. When he produced a copy of his application, along with a certificate of postage, his application was accepted and his ewe premium paid at the beginning of this year. Accordingly, the person is entitled to compensation from my Department for losses arising from destocking and a payment will issue in due course.
