Vol. 548 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Recognition.

Seán Ryan

Question:

454 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will respond to the application from Gaelscoil Bhrian Boroimhe, Swords, County Dublin, for recognition and for the provision of a site. [4576/02]

Gaelscoil Brian Boroimhe received provisional recognition in September 1999. An application for permanent recognition was lodged with the planning section of my Department in September 2000. At that time, consideration of the application was deferred until such time as the school's accommodation arrangements satisfied the Department's criteria for permanent recognition, that is, that the patron and the board of management have ensured that interim accommo dation complies with the relevant planning and health and safety provisions. The school relocated to new premises in November 2001. The planning section is currently examining the application in light of this development. The board of management of the school will be notified when a decision is made on the issue of permanent recognition. The school's permanent accommodation requirements will be considered in this context.
