Vol. 548 No. 4

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Creed – the historic under-funding being received by Cork County Council for the maintenance, repair and improvements of non-national roads and the failure of the Minister to respond to a detailed submission in this regard received from management of Cork County Council of May 2001; (2) Deputy Healy – the need for the implementation of the legal entitlement of elderly persons to in-patient services in nursing homes, as outlined in the report to the Oireachtas by the Ombudsman, January 2001; (3) Deputy Shatter – the need to sanction new classrooms for St. Colmcille's, Knocklyon; (4) Deputy Gilmore – the failure to date of the Minister for Education and Science to sanction the planning and tender stage of the building project for St. Anne's national school, Shankill, County Dublin; (5) Deputy Gormley – that the Minister for Education and Science investigate the unacceptable delay by his Department in issuing sanction for new pre-fabricated classrooms for Muckross Park School which was submitted to his Department in November 2001, the delay which will result in students and teachers enduring another winter of unhealthy and unsafe conditions at the school; (6) Deputy Enright – the need to consult the European Central Bank with the intention of introducing a €1 note and a €2 note as part of the euro currency.

The matters raised by Deputies Shatter, Gilmore, Enright and Healy have been selected for discussion.
