Question:47 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position regarding the Garda investigation into the Omagh bombing; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6080/02]

The investigation into the Omagh bombing is ongoing. The Garda Síochána is dedicated to the task of bringing the Omagh bombers to justice. Regular liaison is maintained between the Garda investigation team and their counterparts in the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
As the Deputy will be aware, one person has been charged and convicted before the Special Criminal Court in connection with this investigation and the directions of the law officers are awaited in relation to another case.
