Vol. 549 No. 3

Written Answers. - Urban Renewal Schemes.

Bernard Allen

Question:

181 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Finance if he has recently met the Lord Mayor of Cork, the city manager and Deputy O'Flynn to discuss the delay in funding the redevelopment of Patrick Street, Cork; his proposals to issue the necessary documentation to enable Cork City Council to commence the project; and his proposals to make funding available for the redevelopment of Patrick Street. [6464/02]

On a recent trip to Cork, I met the Lord Mayor of Cork, the city manager and Deputy O'Flynn to discuss funding for the redevelopment of Patrick Street, Cork. However, any decision to approve or fund the redevelopment of Patrick Street would be a matter for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government in the first instance. I understand that Cork City Council has had discussions with the Department of the Environment and Local Government on the council's proposals for the rejuvenation of Patrick Street and that the council is considering the matter further.
