Vol. 550 No. 2

Written Answers. - Driving Instructor Register of Ireland.

Donal Moynihan

Question:

391 Mr. D. Moynihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if the Companies Registration Office will verify the 1996 VDIR list of 300 instructors which obtained funding from his Department or the State. [7983/02]

I assume that the question refers to the Driving Instructor Register of Ireland which initially received funding from my Department in 1996 on condition that at least 300 applications to join were received. It has been certified to the Department by the DIR's accountants that in excess of 300 members had joined the register. The Companies Registration Office is not involved in this process.
