Vol. 550 No. 4

Written Answers. - Judicial Appointments.

David Stanton

Question:

595 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of judges assigned to the Central Criminal Court; the num ber of vacancies; the plans to appoint further judges; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8680/02]

I understand that the number of judges currently assigned to the Central Criminal Court is three and that it is the intention of the President of High Court to restore that number to four when additional judicial appointments are made.

In that regard, provision is included in the Courts and Court Officers Bill, which I hope will be enacted shortly, for the creation of two additional High Court judge positions.

Question No. 596 answered with Question No. 581.
