Vol. 550 No. 4

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Michael Creed

Question:

696 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science if a person (details supplied) in County Cork is entitled to buy back previous years of employment for pension purposes in respect of this person's current employment. [8425/02]

The person referred to by the Deputy is currently a member of the vocational teachers superannuation scheme. His previous employment was with a semi-State body but he was not a member of that body's pension scheme. Even if he had been a member of the scheme in question, his service would not be reckonable under the vocational teachers superannuation scheme since the body concerned is not a party to the agreements which have been reached regarding the transfer of pensionable service between public sector organisations.
