Vol. 550 No. 5

Written Answers. - Ansbacher Accounts.

John Browne

Question:

47 Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment when the report of the High Court inspectors appointed to Ansbacher (Cayman) Limited will be completed and published; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9370/02]

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

55 Mr. Gilmore asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment when she expects that the report of the inspectors into the Ansbacher accounts will be published and the names of the account holders put into the public domain; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9468/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 47 and 55 together.

I am not in a position to say when the report of the High Court inspectors appointed to Ansbacher (Cayman) Limited will be completed or published. I understand that the inspectors have completed most of their work and are currently going through the required process of providing an opportunity for persons about whom conclusions have been drawn to comment on these conclusions before the report is submitted to the High Court. The question of whether and to what extent, the report is published is solely a matter for the High Court.

Following the enactment of the Company Law Enforcement Act, 2001, which amended section 11 of the Companies Act, 1990, this report will now be provided to the Director of Corporate Enforcement rather than to me as Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment.
