Vol. 551 No. 2

Written Answers. - Local Authorities.

Donal Carey

Question:

352 Mr. D. Carey asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the action he proposed to implement regarding equity in cross-over administration for local authorities such as Clare County Council and Ennis Town Council; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9981/02]

Provision is made in section 100 of the Local Government Act, 2001 for payment by a town council which is a rating authority to a county council in respect of activities carried out by the county council in respect of the town and sets the procedure under which such charge is determined. It is proposed to commence section 100 and to make necessary regulations in advance of the prescribed periods for the adoption of the 2003 local authority estimates.
